Bertus Preller studied at the universities of the Free State and Johannesburg. Bertus is also an experienced mediator and arbitrator. He is the author of Everyone’s Guide To Divorce Law and Separation, published by Random House (2013) and he writes regularly on news24.com. In 2015 Bertus was named South African Child Lawyer of the Year 2015 by ACQ5 Global Finance Magazine Law Awards 2015. He is a member of the International Bar Association and serves on the Child Law Committee and the African Regional Forum of the Association. He is also a member of reunite International Child Abduction Centre, recognised as the leading UK charity specialising in international parental child abduction and the movement of children across international borders and IACP the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, an international community of legal, mental health and financial professionals working in concert to create client-centered processes for resolving conflict. He has been quoted on Child Law issues in various newspapers such as the Sunday Times and Business Times and magazines such as Noseweek, Keur, Living and Loving, Longevity, You and Huisgenoot, and also appears frequently on the SABC television show 3 Talk. He also appeared on the Morning Live Show of SABC2, on RSG and the 5FM Breakfast Show with Gareth Cliff. His clients include artists, celebrities, sports people and high net worth individuals. He is also qualified to appear in the High Court, the same as an Advocate. This saves his clients additional legal fees as they don’t have to appoint an Advocate in many instances.
