Our firm was founded on the 1st of August 1971 by Johan Breytenbach. The first staff members consisted of a secretary, bookkeeper and a messenger. The offices were situated at the Sanlam Building, Boshoff Street, where the old Trust Bank was also situated. Although the firm provided commercial work from its foundation, Breytenbach, for pecuniary reasons, specialised in both Magistrates’ and Supreme Court work. Erich van der Merwe joined the firm in 1973 and specialised in deceased estates and general conveyancing. In 1980, Niel Botha became a partner and he specialised in all spheres of court work. This allowed Breytenbach to concentrate on conveyancing, commercial work and Supreme Court matters. In 1994, Danie du Plooy joined the firm and he gave his attention to Magistrates’ Court and commercial work. At this time, the firm purchased an office building in Boshoff Street where the firm conducted business until 2008, when it acquired the old conference centre of AFGRI Coop which they revamped and, at present, practise in. Jacques Kruger joined the firm in 1996, and specialised in third party claims, civil work with special attention to liquidations, and sequestrations. He left the firm in 2013. Michal Muller joined the firm in 2005 and is a conveyancer and is also involved in the administration of estates.
