Listing Description

By 1830, Grahamstown was recognized as the second-largest city in South Africa, following Cape Town. It was here, in 1841, that James John Henry Stone founded a law firm. In 1902, Lorimer Benjamin Dold joined him, and the firm became known as Dold and Stone, the oldest law firm in Grahamstown. For 170 years, the firm continued to serve clients from the same location, always with a member of the Stone family practicing, until the passing of Christopher Kyle Montagu Stone in 2012.

Today, Dold and Stone is led by Susan Graham McNaughton and Yolandi Wolmarans, who uphold the firm’s legacy of providing expert legal services. Operating from their new offices at 10 African Street, the firm remains deeply rooted in its Eastern Cape heritage. Specializing in conveyancing, litigation, and estate planning, Dold and Stone continues to evolve as a progressive and reliable law firm. They look forward to connecting with clients via their Facebook page, blog, or direct inquiries.
