He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law / CCMA from the University of Johannesburg.Fanie completed his articles of clerkship in Bloemfontein and joined Millers In,d in 1994, after eight years as partner at a prominent Kimberley law firm. After practising in high court ,law, municipal and , as well as Labour Law / CCMA for 31 years, he took over the , and , Department in September 2010.
